Why does divorce take so long?  Divorce,  takes long for many reasons. I'd say, you know, there's many issues that come up. Divorce,  people have kids a lot of the time. So child custody issues, visitation,  talking about dividing assets and debts.  People could own a lot of real estate. People could have a lot of different, know, bank accounts, money market accounts. Those all have to get divided according to the  law.  And then we have the actual process itself, the court process.

The courts we have here,  I won't say they're understaffed, but there's an issue with  getting a hearing on calendar. You're have to wait  anywhere from a month, three months, maybe even more,  in a particular department just because they're so backed up.  So it can take time, even if it's fairly straightforward in agreement,  because the court system needs  more manpower,  essentially. There's a lot of factors. It could be quick, but generally I'd say the divorce process does take time.

You're going to need good counsel on your side to get you through that long period of time.
