Revenge Porn Is a Crime — And You Can Sue

Featuring

What to expect

"Revenge porn is a crime.

Revenge porn in California means that a relationship ends and somebody in the relationship shares pictures, videos, things of that nature that were meant to be just for the two people in the relationship. You can sue if that happens.

They're probably going to be the person who shared that information charged criminally and you can sue them for damages. In part, that would be intentional infliction of emotional distress given the nature of what was exposed and what type of embarrassment and shame it would have caused. And that's definitely intentional because when you do that, and often times people do do it because they're upset about the relationship ending and they want to harm the other person."
